Club History
After a break of about 15 years Wolvey Cricket Club was reformed in 1970.
After a season of playing its home games at Bramcote Barracks, the Club moved onto its present ground at Hollick Way.
The Club played Sunday Friendlies and also entered the Rugby Advertiser midweek league, until in 1973 it entered the South Leicestershire Cricket League and enjoyed almost 20 years of good league cricket in our home County.
Several league championships were won over the years, culminating in the First XI winning the A.J. Norton cup in 1989, which was the most prestigious cup in the league.
In 1990 the Club moved into the Coventry and District Cricket league, the main reason for this move was to play on better pitches, again the Club enjoyed some success and we were soon playing in division 1.
The Club also entered the Nuneaton Thursday League at around the same time and has enjoyed winning several league titles and KO Cups over the years.
With the arrival of the ECB pyramid system the Coventry and District League was merged into the Warwickshire Cricket League and today we play in Division 5 of that League.
After many years of hard work and continual improvement our ground at Hollick Way, is now acknowledged as one of the best pitches in the area, and also boasts excellent facilities.
The ground has been used regularly by County junior sides and has also hosted Ladies county games.
Junior Cricket
Over the years the Club has run teams at all age groups and has enjoyed much success and has produced some very good Cricketers.
At present the Club intends running teams at under 10, 11, 15 and 17 for the 2009 season, with the support of 5 qualified coaches.
